The Bailiwick of Guernsey is an island in the English Channel. It has a Governor appointed by Queen Elizabeth II and has its own parliament. The island consists of 10 parishes and includes the smaller islands of Alderney; Sark; Herm; Jethou and Lihou. It is part of what is commonly referred to as the “Channel Islands”. It is approximately 30 miles from the coast of France and 75 miles from the coast of England. Although it has its own coinage and banknotes its currency is sterling.
